DTV System Marketing Manager
Zoran Corporation, a leading semiconductor company specializing in system on chip (SoC) solutions for the consumer electronics market, has an immediate opening for a DTV system marketing manager supporting the digital television (DTV) business in its Home Entertainment (HE) division.
Zoran is a leading supplier of semiconductors for digital flat panel televisions and commands significant share in this dynamic market. Success in this field requires quick execution of highly integrated solutions, the development of cutting edge technologies, excellent planning and an ability to make sound and timely business decisions.
The successful candidate for the DTV system marketing position will be in charge of driving the system solution product planning and marketing for Zoran’s fast growing DTV business. The position requires detailed technical understanding of digital television systems including related hardware and software components. Responsibilities include analyzing DTV systems and recommending cost reduction strategies through DTV SoC integration, new systems design and lower cost production strategies. As part of this responsibility, the ability to analyze DTV systems’ bill of materials and recommend system optimization strategies is critical. The position would also require understanding DTV customer requirements as well as DTV technology trends, and product business model development. The successful candidate will need to work effectively with division internal VLSI, Applications, Product & Test, as well as Operations engineering groups. The position requires an ability to communicate effectively with regional sales groups, upper level managers as well as work closely with customer managers and engineers.
Success in this position requires a passionate ownership of a system product’s lifecycle. This lifecycle includes the identification of a system opportunity, the generation of detailed requirements, the creation and internal “selling” of a compelling business case for the system, program management through R&D, the development and execution of a system launch plans, creation of system pricing plans and gross margin management, supporting the sales group with positioning as well as generation of appropriate technical marketing support documents such application notes and product briefs. Responsibilities include travelling to and meeting with customers to learn customer requirements as well as to promote system solutions.
The position may require management of marketing engineers. In this role, the manager will not only oversee the activity of marketing engineers but will also take an active role in developing the technical and marketing skills of his or her direct reports. The marketing manager will make it a priority to serve as a mentor to the marketing engineers and help ensure their career development and success.
Applicants to this position should have the equivalent of a minimum of 7 years system engineering and/or technical marketing experience in a semiconductor company, preferably in the DTV or related field. Candidates must be able to demonstrate effective people skills, technical and business competence, as well as a goal orientated passion toward their work. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a proven track record of results in prior work experiences. International business experience is a plus including language skill in Mandarin, Japanese and/or Korean. Ideally, the candidate will have at least a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and an MBA.
