Sharp to Use Zoran’s IPSTM XPS Software in Multifunction Peripherals

New Interpreter Supporting Microsoft Windows Vista Demonstrated at WinHEC 2006

Sunnyvale, Calif. - May 22, 2006 - Zoran Corporation (Nasdaq: ZRAN) announced that Sharp Corporation has agreed to license its IPSTM XPS page description language (PDL) interpreter for use in its color MX series and monochrome AR series printers and multifunction peripherals (MFPs).

Sharp has agreed to participate in Zoran’s IPS XPS Early Adopter Program to receive pre-release source code. Zoran’s IPS XPS interpreter supports the new XML Paper Specification (XPS) Document format that opens Microsoft’s Windows Vista® operating system to vendor innovation. The IPS XPS interpreter will allow Sharp’s printers and MFPs to provide direct XPS support, maximized performance, and improved document fidelity from new applications using WinFX®, the Windows programming model, with the Windows Vista® and Windows XP operating systems. Zoran’s IPS XPS interpreter coexists with other Zoran PDL interpreters in Sharp products and assures full compatibility with the Windows Vista® operating system in a small incremental ROM and RAM footprint.

Zoran will be demonstrating its IPS XPS interpreter running on Sharp’s MX-2700 series color printer in a technology suite at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel and Towers in conjunction with Microsoft’s WinHEC 2006 conference in Seattle from May 23-25.

“Sharp is pleased to begin early integration of the Zoran IPS XPS interpreter as it provides the development groups with the opportunity to fine tune the technology in advance of the scheduled Windows Vista® release,” said Mary Bourret, Director, Embedded Imaging Department, Sharp Laboratories of America.

“Microsoft is pleased that Sharp has adopted Zoran’s IPS XPS interpreter to provide support for the XPS Document format in its products,” said Madelyn Bryant McIntire, Product Unit Manager for the Digital Documents Platform and Solutions team, Microsoft Corporation. “Sharp’s decision further validates the market’s acceptance of the XPS format.”

"We are proud that Sharp, a leading office products provider and long-term customer, has agreed to be the first licensee of our new IPS XPS interpreter supporting the Windows Vista® operating system,” said Simon Dolan, senior vice president and general manager, Zoran’s Imaging Division.

Zoran’s final release of the IPS XPS interpreter will be delivered as a module within Zoran’s IPS complete PDL interpreter solution, IPS 8.0, later in 2006. The IPS XPS Early Adopter Program provides pre-release source code to OEMs later this quarter. OEMs that are interested in Zoran’s IPS XPS interpreter or would like more information on Zoran, should visit www.zoran.com or contact an imaging division sales representative at 781-638-7500.
