Zoran’s headquarters is in Sunnyvale, CA, with major operations in Burlington, MA, as well as Canada, China, Germany, India, Israel, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and Taiwan.

Our Sunnyvale site is looking for a Software Applications Engineer in our Digital Still Camera (DSC) Applications department, which develops chips as well as software for digital cameras. Join the elite group of COACH (Camera On A CHip) Applications engineers to develop new features and technologies for our embedded solution for digital cameras.

As a Software Applications Engineer, you will:

Key areas of responsibilities:
  • Develop embedded software on our COACH chip, a core of digital camera systems.
  • Travel abroad to collaborate with key customers to help drive these accounts into mass-production.
  • Work includes debugging, planning and developing features to meet customer’s requirements.
  • Work closely with Zoran’s worldwide applications team in Korea, Japan, Taiwan and China, and engineering in Israel.
  • Become an expert in a large number of technical areas, including video/audio/image compression, video and image processing, file system, communication protocols (serial, USB, etc..).
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • BS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with two to eight years of experience.
  • Environment: embedded, 32 bit MIPS, ThreadX OS
  • Languages: C, C++, MIPS Assembly
  • Areas: Image Processing, Embedded, MIPS, Image Compression, File System, USB, MPEG, H.264, AAC, MP3, Audio
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • High C coding and design skills
  • Ability to easily dive into existing code and infrastructure
  • Thorough understanding of programming in real time and multi-threaded systems
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Ability to travel abroad (about 4-6 times a year)
  • Good communication skills and team-player.
  • Understanding of assembly language
