Sunnyvale, California - May 31, 2005 - Zoran Corporation (Nasdaq: ZRAN) announced the availability of its newest processor solutions, the Quatro 4050 and Quatro 4200 series, for the consumer printer market.
"Zoran’s latest Quatro processor solutions provide OEMs with the most cost-effective solution available for consumer printing applications, from ultra-low-cost products to premium applications with color graphical displays and wireless connectivity," said William Queen, product marketing manager, Zoran Imaging Division. "We are enabling consumers to easily connect digital printers with digital cameras, digital televisions, DVD players and other devices to view and share their images whenever and wherever they want."
The Quatro 4050 series enables a new class of ultra-low-cost, all-in-one (AIO) printers and direct-connect photo printers. It provides OEMs with an embedded scanner analog front-end (AFE) and a feature set optimized for the most cost-sensitive applications.
The Quatro 4200 series delivers the industry’s most highly integrated, fully featured solution for sophisticated printers that enable customers to view, print, and share digital photos. The series embeds several new features including fast, high-quality scanner analog front-end (AFE), USB High Speed host port, and a color LCD interface. The Quatro 4200 series also supports emerging home multimedia applications with a TV output interface and is ideal for applications that require PC-independent functions including PictBridge and memory card functions.
"IDC forecasts that the worldwide sub-$100 AIO segment will develop at a 75.9 percent compound annual growth rate from 2003 to 2008. We also expect that by 2007, 100 percent of inkjet printers and 95 percent of inkjet AIOs shipped in the United States will be photo-direct devices that feature increasingly sophisticated user-interfaces," said Keith Kmetz, program director of Hardcopy Peripherals Solutions and Services at IDC.
Every Quatro processor solution pairs an ARM RISC CPU core and Quatro SIMD DSP core. This pairing provides OEMs with a compelling combination of high performance processing and programmability that allows for the rapid and easy addition of increasingly sophisticated features such as automatic enhancement of digital photos. Zoran offers manufacturers a complete set of tools for programming the DSP, including an extensive library of optimized image processing routines with all the algorithms typically used in scanning, printing, and copying applications.
The Quatro 4050 and Quatro 4200 series of ICs are available now. For more information, please visit www.zoran.com or contact a sales representative at 781-638-7500.
