Zoran’s Cascade Demodulator Used by Mitsumi In New TV Tuner For US Market

Complete Module Provides Fast Time-to-Market DTV Solution

Sunnyvale, Calif. - May 17, 2006 - Zoran Corporation (Nasdaq: ZRAN) announced that Mitsumi Electric completed development of its Digital Network Interface Module (NIM) for the U.S. Digital Terrestrial, Cable DTV and set-top box markets using Zoran’s Cascade 2 demodulator.

Mitsumi’s integrated ATSC Tuner NIM is an ideal component for enabling television manufacturers to quickly adapt to the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) 8-VSB and QAM ITU-T J.83 Annex B standards required for digital televisions and digital-to-analog converter box products for the U.S. market.

“Mitsumi and Zoran have formed a productive partnership working together on many programs, such as the new Tuner NIM, to deliver compelling solutions to our customers developing ATSC-standard products for the U.S. television market,” said Keisho Fujiwara, general manager at Mitsumi’s AVC division.

"Our focus is to develop cost-effective, high-performance solutions for our customers that allow them to quickly bring to market products that comply with the latest standards for any geography. Mitsumi’s expertise in tuner technology combined with Zoran’s high performance ATSC demodulator will enable many manufacturers to deliver new televisions and set-top boxes that comply with the ATSC DTV standard in the U.S. market,” said Ram Ofir, vice president and general manager at Zoran’s home entertainment division.

Mitsumi’s pre-tested, qualified Tuner NIM eliminates the guesswork when interfacing sensitive RF signals to the demodulator, improving product performance and reducing development time.

Products based on Mitsumi’s new tuner NIM are scheduled to be available in retail later this year.
