Sunnyvale, Calif. – March 13, 2007 – Zoran Corporation (Nasdaq: ZRAN) announced its Windows print driver development kit, IPS™ DDK, has been deployed in Kodak’s recently announced series of EasyShare inkjet all-in-one printers now available at retail.
Zoran’s IPS™ DDK is a technology platform that extends Microsoft’s Universal Print Driver (Unidrv) and PostScript Print Driver (PScript) development kits. It eliminates the requirement to develop both “monolithic” and Unidrv/PScript based drivers and provides original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with the full functionality, advanced customization, performance and print quality necessary to reduce development time. The print driver development kit also offers user interface consistency across Windows® operating systems, including Windows Vista®, and print language technologies.
“Kodak has been impressed with Zoran’s high-quality software solutions as well as their outstanding support services,” said John Manard, director of inkjet systems software, Kodak’s Inkjet Systems. “IPS™ DDK enabled Kodak to develop custom printer drivers and utilize them across the EasyShare product line.”
"Zoran continues to target key growth areas in our print driver business. We have enjoyed a long-term relationship with Kodak, supplying software and hardware solutions to most major business units,” said Simon Dolan, vice president and general manager, Zoran’s Imaging Division. “With the licensing of IPS™ XP1 and now IPS™ DDK we have provided all the functionality Kodak required to independently develop drivers with their own look and feel and deploy them across the newest line of EasyShare inkjet all-in-ones.”
Kodak’s EasyShare All-in-One Printers
The Kodak EasyShare 5100 features print, scan and copy capabilities and delivers high-quality documents and photos. The device can print and copy up to 32 pages per minute in black and 22 pages per minute in color, and print photos from Pictbridge-enabled cameras without involving a PC. The Kodak EasyShare 5300 builds on the 5100’s features by offering a 3-inch color LCD display that enables photo viewing and cropping directly from the printer. Memory card slots provide an additional quick and simple way to print digital pictures without a PC. The Kodak EasyShare 5500 is the perfect solution for home-office users and connected families. In addition to sharing the features of the 5100 and 5300 printers, the 5500 has fax functionality and includes a 2.4-inch color LCD display, an automatic document feeder and a duplexer attachment.
Zoran’s IPS™ DDK print driver development kit is a module within Zoran’s PDL interpreter solution, IPS™ 8.0, and is available now to qualified OEMs. IPS™ 8.0 supports all leading page description languages with highly flexible, modular and portable source code, suitable for embedded and host environments.
